The City of Wetaskiwin is looking to an idea from its past to spur involvement in sport and recreation. City council approved the formation of a recreation board at their general meeting Nov. 24, something that has not been in place for more than 14 years.

The new Zeeland Community Recreation Center has already received an award. The new 20,150-square-foot facility has received the Community Image Award in the public facilities division from the Zeeland Chamber of Commerce.

The high school hockey player who suffered a broken neck Sunday morning at the Kettering Recreation Complex remains in serious condition at Miami Valley Hospital on Monday afternoon, Dec. 1.
